As Code Geass approaches its twentieth anniversary, the franchise is being relaunched with “Code Geass: Hoshi Oi no Aspar,” a new project unveiled during an event dedicated to the series’ two decades. The production brings together renowned creators, while the first images and teasers confirm the intention to give the universe a new visual and narrative direction. The announcement comes alongside the promotion of “Rosé of the Recapture,” already available for streaming and soon to be broadcast on Japanese television, extending the franchise’s continued presence across several platforms. The celebrations will also include exhibitions in Tokyo and Osaka, clearly demonstrating an intention to firmly establish the work within the cultural landscape of animation.
The franchise is also taking advantage of this momentum to multiply its related initiatives, including a collaboration with Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, honoring the thirtieth anniversary of the other iconic series. A manga by Tomofumi Ogasawara is in preparation, further strengthening the creative ties between the two universes. Fans will also be able to discover the new musical staging of Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion – Seido ni Jyunzuru Kishi 2, scheduled for early in the year in Osaka and then Tokyo, accompanied by new visuals. The opening of additional exhibitions planned for 2026 shows that the publisher is already anticipating an ongoing celebration of Lelouch’s legacy and the saga’s major figures.
Following this, the entire Code Geass universe is being set in motion again through several digital initiatives. All fifty episodes of the original series will be made available for free on the official YouTube channel, allowing both new and returning viewers to rediscover the foundations of the story. There will also be an illustrated drama series, presented as a video channel run by Lelouch and the student council, offering a lighter and more experimental tone. Finally, Disney is highlighting the storyline of “Rozé of the Recapture,” centered on two mercenary brothers living in an occupied Hokkaido and facing an imperial power seeking to unleash new chaos across the world. This context further enriches the narrative universe, ensuring an ambitious transformation for Code Geass over the next decade.
