At AnimeJapan 2025, the very first trailer for Season 2 of Kaiju No. 8 was unveiled. It is scheduled to premiere in July 2025 on Crunchyroll. This new season promises renewed intensity, with the introduction of a mysterious captain and the appearance of previously unseen Kaiju. Among the notable revelations, viewers discover character visuals for Gen Narumi, voiced by Koki Uchiyama, joining a strong voice cast featuring Masaya Fukunishi in the lead role of Kafka Hibino, alongside Asami Seto, Fairouz Ai and many other renowned talents.

The story continues to follow Kafka Hibino, a man whose dream of joining the Defense Force has been set aside over the years. While his childhood friend Mina Ashiro has become an elite captain, he now works for a company tasked with clearing the rubble left behind by battles against the Kaiju. This contrast between their respective paths highlights Kafka’s melancholy, torn between his daily duties and his former ambitions. It is through his encounter with Reno Ichikawa, a determined young man, that Kafka gradually rediscovers his will to fight for humanity.

The upcoming season is the result of the meticulous work of an experienced team. Naoya Matsumoto, author of the original manga, sees his work adapted by Production I.G, with figures such as Shigeyuki Miya directing and Ichiro Okouchi handling the screenplay. The polished visual style, Yuta Bandoh’s musical composition, and the impressive Kaiju designs created by khara studio suggest a visually ambitious and narratively compelling season. A promise resurfaces in Kafka’s heart: to fight alongside Mina to protect the world from a growing new threat.
