Works is resuming production with part of the original staff and several new members. Kotomi Deai is retaining her role as director and head writer, assisted by Yoko Yonaiyama. Manami Umeshita is returning as character designer and animation director, alongside Reina Igawa. Other additions to the staff include Mio Fujishima, who will handle the secondary character designs, and Sō Senoo as art director. Crunchyroll will stream this new season, but no details have been provided regarding the return of composer Takatsugu Wakabayashi.

The story follows Mitsumi Iwakura, a brilliant student from a small town who dreams of attending a prestigious university and making a positive impact on the world. However, when she arrives at high school in Tokyo, she discovers a daily life very different from what she expected. Overwhelmed by this new urban life, she quickly befriends Sousuke Shima, a laid-back boy whose personality contrasts with her excessive seriousness. Through their adventures, the anime explores Mitsumi’s adjustment and growth in this new environment. The series has captivated viewers with its realism and endearing characters.

The manga, which has been published since 2018 in Kodansha’s Monthly Afternoon, quickly gained popularity. It ranked seventh among the best manga for male readers in the Kono Manga ga Sugoi! guide in 2020 and was a finalist for the Manga Taisho Awards that same year. It was also nominated in the Best General Manga category at the Kodansha Manga Awards. The anime adaptation premiered in April 2023 and was simulcast on Crunchyroll. With this second season, Skip and Loafer is confirming its success and continuing to win over a wide audience.
